This nearby segment of whitewater is a type III. This segment of Crystal River is suited for paddlers who have been whitewater paddling for a bit but who are not yet ready for the especially perilous rapids. There's a pleasant 6.2-mile-from-beginning-to-end class II+(III) whitewater section on Roaring Fork close by, the Black Bridge to Veltus Park section. This section of Roaring Fork is pleasant for those with a bit of kayak paddling know-how. You should check restrictions before heading out; kayak paddling could become dangerous.
