Carp River is close by. This, the Carp Lake dam to CR553 sector, is a grade III-V(V+). This part of Carp River is nice for those with a lot of whitewater experience. The 6.9-mile-in-distance McClure Dam to Forestville Road section is a class IV-V+ section of whitewater on Dead
River. This sweep of Dead River is recommended for skilled kayak paddlers exclusively. You find the 2.25-mile-long Section 20 Bridge to O'Neal Creek confluence portion of Escanaba River - East Branch close by; this is a grade I-II(III) whitewater stretch. Raft paddlers on this
stretch of Escanaba River - East Branch should boast a little experience in whitewater paddling. You should check conditions prior to departure; whitewater paddling may turn hazardous.
