Loon Mountain gets blanketed by 10 feet of snow every winter, and has 10 great   ski lifts serving the 45 trails. Skiers from near and far enjoy Waterville Valley. 20% of the trails at Waterville Valley are black and red, and 80% are intermediate or beginner; there is a total of 500 acres of skiable terrain. The 52 trails at Waterville Valley are all perfect; the altitude difference is 2,020 feet at this ski resort. The 12.4-mile-in-length Lincoln portion is fine to raft. This bit of Pemigewasset River - North Fork is a difficult bit for whitewater kayaking or rafting. On close by Ammonoosuc River you bump into a category II-IV section of whitewater; the Pierce bridge to New Hampshire 116 sector is 7.3 miles long. This sector of Ammonoosuc River is a mid difficulty section for paddling. Israel River has a close by whitewater stretch; the Riverton to Lancaster sector is a delightful 4.7-mile-from-start-to-finish category II stretch of whitewater. This stretch of Israel River is fitting for kayak paddlers who haven't been whitewater boating for very long.
