It could be said that this run of Williams River is a site for beginner raft paddling. Don't go raft paddling prior to first checking current conditions; it's perilous business. Ascutney, the nearby ski hill has 6 different ski lifts and gets covered by 8 feet of wonderful snow per season on its 56 runs. The vertical drop is 1,800 feet at Ascutney. About 30% of the runs covering the 150 acres of skiing land at Ascutney are difficult while 70% of the runs are blue and green. Skiers love Ascutney; it's a tremendous ski hill.
