The Betty Brock junction to Route 30 b section on West Kill River is a nearby type II-V+ whitewater bit, 4.3 miles from start to finish. By and large this bit of West Kill River is a hard place for whitewater kayaking or rafting. There's a tremendous 9-mile-from-start-to-finish type I-III whitewater segment on Schoharie Creek nearby, the Lexington to Prattsville section. If you boast some whitewater rafting or kayaking practice, this section of Schoharie Creek may be a tremendous site for you. Nearby there is a wonderful 3.5-mile-from-beginning-to-end grade II-III whitewater segment, the Elk Creek Road bridge to Lake Switzerland section of Vly Creek. This segment of Vly Creek is proposed for paddlers of medium familiarity. If you are going whitewater paddling, you have to always check restrictions.
