On Fish Creek close by you encounter the 7.5-mile-long Burgoyne to Schuylerville portion of type II-IV whitewater. Whitewater paddlers on this stretch of Fish Creek should have a little bit of skill in raft paddling. Hudson River has a grade I-V sweep of whitewater nearby. The
6.4-mile-from-beginning-to-end Sherman Island to Feeder Dam section is great to kayak. This sweep of Hudson River is not a place for novices to come whitewater rafting or kayaking unaccompanied. On close by Sacandaga River you come upon a grade II-III sweep of whitewater; the Stewarts
Bridge Reservoir to Hudson River segment is 3.5 miles long. You might get soaked raft paddling this sweep of Sacandaga River, so you should be prepared for that. On Mohawk River you encounter the nearby Cohoes Wave section. This is a class II, 0-mile-long stretch of whitewater.
This stretch of Mohawk River is a stretch of water suitable for novices in whitewater rafting or kayaking. Check conditions previous to going on the whitewater, otherwise it's not secure.
