Here at Island View Motel and Cottages there are plenty of people from Lake Luzerne, and don't leave without going to Moreau Lake State Park. Merriment and exhilaration is just around the corner in Lake Luzerne. Nearby there is a fine 3.5-mile-in-length type II-III whitewater bit, the Stewarts Bridge Reservoir to Hudson River section of Sacandaga River. By and large this bit of Sacandaga River is an enjoyable place for whitewater kayaking and rafting. |

A great 4-mile-from-start-to-finish whitewater part on Stony Creek is nearby. This, the Roaring Branch to Hudson River portion, is a type II-III. This portion of Stony Creek is a mid difficulty part for paddling. You find the 3.6-mile-in-length Spier Falls to Sherman Island sector
| | of Hudson River nearby; this is a grade I-V whitewater section. Raft paddlers on this section of Hudson River should hold a bit of practice in whitewater boating. A type III-IV, 2-mile-in-distance whitewater stretch can be found on nearby Roaring Branch, the Last 2 miles into Stoney Creek section. This stretch of Roaring Branch is not a spot for learners to come whitewater kayaking and rafting solo. Golf can be played at Bend of the River Golf Club. Hickory Ski Center, the close by ski area has
4 ski lifts and gets covered by 3 feet of white snow every year on its 18 slopes. The vertical drop is 1,280 feet at Hickory Ski Center. There are 200 acres of terrain at Hickory Ski Center, 50% of the slopes are red and black; those are the ones the skilled skiers like the most.
50% of the slopes at Hickory Ski Center are green and blue and fitting for kids and novices. West Mountain has 124 acres of skiable area; 9% of the runs are demanding while 91% are green and blue. West Mountain has wonderful runs to match any ability. 7 feet of white snow fall
per winter on the 1,010-foot drop of West Mountain, the nearby ski mountain. West Mountain has 22 runs and 5 good ski lifts. Rockwell Hill is clearly visible from Island View Motel and Cottages, and a fine place like Saratoga Spa State Park is too fine to leave out.
