The Feeder Dam to Glens Falls segment on Hudson River is a nearby category I whitewater bit, 2.15 miles long.
For those inexperienced in whitewater boating this bit of Hudson River may be an enjoyable place to run. There's a glorious 1-mile-in-distance class II-III whitewater section on Schroon River nearby, the Warrensburg to Thurman Station section. This section of Schroon River is appropriate
for paddlers who have been whitewater kayaking and rafting for a period of time but who are not yet prepared for the very perilous rapids. Nearby there is a good 6.4-mile-in-distance type I-V whitewater stretch, the Sherman Island to Feeder Dam section of Hudson River. This section
of Hudson River is good for those with a little kayak paddling skill. Near Takundewide Cottages is a nice 6-mile-from-beginning-to-end section of whitewater on Schroon River, a class II-III, this is the Starbuckville to Riverbank segment. If you hold a bit of kayak paddling familiarity,
this segment of Schroon River may be a nice place for you. A splendid 3.6-mile-long whitewater stretch on Hudson River is nearby. This, the Spier Falls to Sherman Island section, is a class I-V. This stretch of Hudson River is recommended for raft paddlers of medium familiarity.
Whitewater rapids are hazardous occurrences, so you have to check conditions prior to departure. Burnt Hill is painless to spot from Takundewide Cottages; Takundewide Cottages is close to Moreau Lake State Park which is a stunning site.
