    Windham Mountain has 25% red and black ski trails and 75% beginner and intermediate ski trails. 240 acres of skiing land is on hand to the skiers who materialize at Hunter Mountain in winter; 57% of the slopes are beginner and intermediate while 43% are difficult. Hunter Mountain,
the close by ski mountain has 11 different ski lifts and receives 10 feet of wonderful snow per year on its 53 slopes. The drop from top to bottom is 1,600 feet at Hunter Mountain. For the period of the warmest time of the year highs here at Windwood get into the 70's while nighttime lows are usually in the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 20's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Windwood descend into the 0's. The 5-mile-long Route 296 bridge to Jewett Center portion is a grade II-IV portion of whitewater on East Kill  
River. Don’t count on keeping yourself dry whitewater rafting or kayaking this bit of East Kill River in case you're not an experienced paddler. You find the 5.7-mile-from-beginning-to-end Swinging Bridge to Route 23-A bridge section of Batavia Kill River close by; this is a category II-V+ whitewater sweep. Only those experienced in paddling should attempt to run this sweep of Batavia Kill River. A class II-IV, 7.7-mile-long whitewater part can be found on nearby West Kill River, the Albinos Pizzeria to Schoharie Creek sector. If by chance you don’t want to risk getting wet this part of West Kill River is most likely not for you. The close by category II-III, 17-mile-long Cooksburg to Woodstock Dam section of whitewater on Catskill Creek is a heap of fun. This section of Catskill Creek is proposed for kayak paddlers of medium practice. Unsurprisingly, kayak paddling is amusing but perilous; check current conditions ahead of going.
While you're here at Windwood you will meet lots of folks from nearby Hensonville; visiting Mine Kill State Park is a glorious thing to do. Near Windwood you stumble on Black Dome Valley which is a fine place to have a look at, and the top of Cave Mountain is easily observed from Windwood. The yearly rainfall here at Windwood is about average; the month with most of the rain is May while February is frequently the driest month.
