section is 3.5 miles long. This section of Thunderhole Creek is great for those with a little bit of paddling practice. Boone Fork has a close by whitewater sweep; the Julian Price Park to Watauga sector is a delightful 4.5-mile-in-distance type III-IV(V+) sweep of whitewater.
This sector of Boone Fork is recommended for skilled raft paddlers only. On Watauga River you run into the nearby SR 1557 to North Carolina 105 portion. This is a grade II-IV, 2-mile-long run of whitewater. This run of Watauga River is recommended for whitewater boaters of medium
know-how. Always check the latest conditions before heading out kayak paddling in view of the fact that kayak paddling is a risky pursuit. Old Blowing Rock Water Supply Dam has good water scenery and it's right next door to Boxwood Lodge, and Boyd Gap is a wonderful place to spend some time.
