I-III stretch of whitewater nearby. The 7-mile-long Creek Road to I-15 segment is great to paddle. This segment of Little Cottonwood Creek is appropriate for whitewater boaters who have been kayak paddling for a bit but who are not yet ready for the extremely hazardous rapids.
On nearby Big Cottonwood Creek you find a class I-IV segment of whitewater; the Old Mill to 3900 South portion is 8.5 miles long. This portion of Big Cottonwood Creek is fine for those with some whitewater boating skill. Jordan River has a nearby whitewater stretch; the Utah Lake
to Rose Park portion is a glorious 51-mile-in-length class I-II stretch of whitewater. This portion of Jordan River is suitable for kayak paddlers who haven't been raft paddling for very long. Don't go raft paddling prior to first checking the situation; it's hazardous business.
If time allows, Oregon National Historic Trail is a national park worth taking a look at; you might also want to pay a visit to City Creek Canyon while you're here at Carlton Hotel. Carlton Hotel is commonly a quite dehydrated place; of all the months in a year April is the one with the most rain; July meanwhile is the driest month.
