Okemo nearby is a delightful ski resort; it gets 17 feet of good snow per winter; it has 119 ski slopes, 19 lifts, and a delightful 2,210-foot elevation difference. 68% of the ski slopes at Okemo are green and blue. Of the 601 acres of skiable terrain 32% is tough; there's something for everybody at Okemo. A stopover at Alpine Trails Lodge is always a glorious experience. The East Wallingford to Clarendon sector, a whitewater section on Mill River is 6 miles from start to finish. This nearby section of whitewater is a category II-III. This section of Mill River is suited for kayak paddlers who have been whitewater rafting and kayaking for a while but who are not yet prepared for the exceptionally dangerous rapids. Naturally, whitewater rafting and kayaking is cool but dangerous; check circumstances prior to departure.
