The Lava Island Falls to Mount Bachelor Village portion, a whitewater section on Deschutes River is 6 miles from start to finish. This close by section of whitewater is a type IV-V+. It may be said that this section of Deschutes River is a site for expert whitewater boating. There's a good 16-mile-long type I-II whitewater run on Deschutes River nearby, the Pringle Falls to Big River Campground portion. This run of Deschutes River is a good place for novices in raft paddling. For your protection you have to always check current conditions prior to going raft paddling.
